The Prostate Cancer Coalition of North Carolina is dedicated to the defeat of prostate cancer. By working together we will see a day when prostate cancer is no longer a threat to the families of our state. The PCCNC facilitates enhanced communication and collaboration amongst groups and individuals to maximize our collective efforts to reduce prostate cancer death while improving quality of life for all prostate cancer survivors and their families. We invite all interested and committed parties to join us in this important initiative.

Founded on March 21, 2001, the PCCNC is incorporated in the state of North Carolina as a tax exempt 501(c)3

Executive Director: Mary C. Anderson
Ms. Anderson has been involved with various aspects of prostate cancer patient care, outreach, research, education, and support since 1996. She aided in the formation and development of the PCCNC in 2001 and has expanded its statewide network of prostate cancer patient support, reaching into every major region of North Carolina. Daughter of the PCCNC’s late Founder, Robert (Bob) J. Anderson, her passion for the cause stems from working with and caring for her father who died of prostate cancer and evolved through her desire to improve the odds of survival and improved treatment circumstances for men living with prostate cancer and their families as well as for future generations. She was a Pilot Site Coordinator for the UsToo! International Minority and Underserved Populations Outreach and Awareness Program and is responsible for the development of the PCCNC Prostate Cancer Screening Guidelines and the PCCNC Partners Program. As PCCNC’s Executive Director she makes every attempt to collaborate and embrace the unique vision of virtually every prostate cancer outreach, awareness, screening, and patient support initiative in the state. In 2005 she was awarded the Sword Barer of Excellence Award by the NC Minority Prostate Cancer Awareness Action Team, AKA, the “Action Team” and in 2006 she was awarded the KnowledgeNet award for Family Advocacy and the Barbara Pullen-Smith Public Service Award for her work in minority and underserved communities. Ms. Anderson currently sits on a number of planning committees including the Steering Committee for the National Alliance of State Prostate Cancer Coalitions, the North Carolina Comprehensive Cancer Program Prostate Cancer Workgroup and the Rex Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence Advisory Committee.
