Prostate Cancer Awareness

print friendly version of this page |

If you are a man and you live long enough, statistically, you're going to develop a prostate cancer. Developments in cancer treatment have greatly improved ability to cure cancers in the earlier, silent stages. This ability deteriorates in later stages of the development of disease. Annual screening to promote early detection of prostate cancer saves lives.

Prostate cancer:

  • Is the second leading cause of cancer death among American men.
  • 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime.
  • On average, every 13 minutes a man dies of prostate cancer.
  • Prostate cancer is as much as 100% curable when detected in it’s early silent stages.
  • Once physically uncomfortable symptoms manifest, the survival rate for prostate cancer drops to 30%.

High profile sufferers include Arnold Palmer, Richard Petty, Charlton Heston, Colin Powell, Robert De Niro, Sean Connery, Rudy Giuliani, Bob Dole, Sidney Poitier, Harry Belefonte and General Norman Schwarzkopf. Millions of men currently battle this silent killer.
