Consulting with a multidisciplinary medical team has been an established standard approach in treating breast, colon and lung cancer for decades. Men with prostate cancer also often require the expertise of several disciplines to provide optimal care. Communication among urologists, radiation oncologists and medical oncologists can help to develop the optimal treatment plan for YOU.
The American Urological Association (AUA) encourages men with prostate cancer to be aware of the importance of seeking advice from a multidisciplinary team of physicians - a urologist, a radiation oncologist and a medical oncologist - to ensure that all available treatment options are fully explored, and so that an optimal treatment plan may be implemented.
